We are always on the lookout for positive, passionate, ethically-minded people to move onsite, in exchange for one day’s work per week within Holifield Farm Project. This is a wonderful opportunity to live in a beautiful setting on the Helford, surrounded by organic pastures and woodland. As a thriving community it is important that we welcome community-minded people with an holistic approach to life.

Due to the fast-paced and dynamic nature of the projects at Holifield, there are a wide range of roles which we look to fill will perspective new dwellers. Some of the possible roles are:

Support Worker: This is a fun and varied role, supporting people with special needs on the farm to look after the animals, do arts and crafts, gardening and a mixture of other activities. Your role is to ensure people are kept safe from any harm, whilst helping them to reach their potential. Excellent communication skills are essential, and a flexible approach to the role crucial. Experience in a support or care environment would be helpful but not essential. Due to the setting it would be preferred if you had some practical skills or knowledge.

Environmental Voice: This is an exciting new role for a compassionate person with a passion for environmental issues. You will be helping to develop a new movement with an aim to campaign for change by tackling the issue of disposable plastic.
Desired skills: activism experience, an understanding  of current environmental issues, evidence of living a conscientious lifestyle, high standards of writing and literacy skills, computer-literate.

Tradesperson: Carpenter, Plumber, Electrician, Builder, Mechanic, Machinery Operator, Welder

Admin: General administration tasks. A good standard of computer literacy would be helpful for this role.

Additional information: 

For clarity, one day work per week would be your exchange for living onsite, any extra days (subject to availability and agreed prior to moving onsite) would be paid.  All staff are DBS checked.

New dwellers will be provided with their own pitch. In most cases, community members will need to source their own dwelling (E.G. campervan/ caravan) but some accommodation could be available for the right applicant.  We have a communal shower (20p for 2 mins), compost loos, flushing loos, wifi available in the tea room in the evenings/bank holidays/weekends and a communal washing machine. There are drinking water taps (from our borehole) and a possibility of access to electricity, although your own solar panels would be encouraged. We welcome & encourage you to build your own low-impact home after a 3 month trial period.

We ask you to attend community meetings when they are organised, and encourage you to get involved in projects such as managing the community polytunnel outside of your work days, and/or helping to bring the community together by organising community meals – providing opportunities for healthy communication and connections. Positive, enthusiastic, robust characters who are interested a basic, sustainable lifestyle and like splashing in muddy puddles would make ideal candidates.

We ask for a little extra voluntary time when we run any additional events, such as The Big Tent Festival and are interested in people who, like us, are interested in building a stronger sense of community, both amongst ourselves and the wider community.
